Removing Pet Odors & Stains from Carpet & Substrate
A carpeted floor and substrate can be made up of a variety of complex textures, cracks and crevices, becoming a magnet for soils. This is a perfect environment for odor and disease causing microorganisms to migrate and multiply.
Soiled carpet can invite a multitude of negative impressions related to cleanliness, hygiene, and safety.
Standard cleaning technology has remained virtually unchanged and is essentially one dimensional in its approach.

Pet Odor and Stain Problems:
There are multiple obstacles and points of entry that make it difficult for commonly used cleaners and methods to degrade odor and stain causing organic soils, including:
- Removing Pet Odors & Stains from Carpet & Substrate
- Soil/Film Coat (Bio-film): Sometimes noticeable and sometimes not, this bio-film can be
the result of a buildup of detergent and/or organic soil trapped in microscopic or rough textured surfaces. - Host Entry Points: Organic soils can and will find their way into the smallest entry points,
including carpet fiber, pads, surface cracks and crevices, wall to floor seams, under baseboards or any surface imperfection.
Solutions to Pet Odor and Stain Problems
Restore or Clean
- Remove heavy soil buildup.
- Vacuum to remove dry particulate (dust, dirt and pet hair).
- Pre-treat carpet. We recommend an enzyme based solution for removing pet stains and odors.
- Clean carpet.
- Allow carpet to dry to a light dampness.
- In a pump-up sprayer, mix 8-ounces of ProGienics BioStat Protectant with one gallon of water.
- Apply solution liberally to the entire surface and allow to air dry.
Replace or Pre-Install
- Remove carpet and pad.
- Vacuum substrate to remove dry particulate (dust, dirt and pet hair).
- In a pump-up sprayer, mix 2 to 4 ounces of ProGienics Maintain Enzymatic Floor Cleaner with one gallon of water.
- Apply solution liberally to the entire surface, including under and up baseboards.
- Allow surface to dry to a light dampness.
- In a second (labeled) pump-up sprayer, mix 8-ounces of ProGienics BioStat Protectant with one gallon of water.
- Apply solution liberally to the entire surface, including tack-strip and up baseboard.
- Allow surface to dry complete before reinstalling carpet.
For best results, you should clean the area with a degreaser, such as ProClean HD Alkaline Pre-Cleaner and Degreaser.
